“I read a proverb which is very popular in some countries: “God owns the world, but he rents it out to the brave”, and it made me think.
—What are you waiting for?”
-Saint Josemaría Escrivá
The new year, 2018, is upon us. How many will be making some resolutions this year. When doing this, we should always keep in mind that God calls us to be daring. Oftentimes that daring takes place in very little ways; in praying even when we are tired, in completing the task at hand well and with great love, turning off the distractions and going to pray or serve and help another person. In inviting another person to return to the Sacraments. Living the virtues of chastity, prudence, justice, temperance, fortitude, which are so often neglected these days. The true rebels are those who boldly live for God.
So what are you waiting for? Don’t you want to rent the world from God?
Certainly it takes some daring to live the Catholic Faith, and God doesn’t leave us without His help! There is great power in Baptism and Confirmation, not to mention if you are married, a priest, or a religious. God gives us special graces to live our state of life well. Thankfully we are all members of the mystical body of Christ, so there are a lot of people helping us with their own prayers, sacrifices, and work offered up with love. We are never alone. So make a resolution or two, and here is some more advice from Saint Josemaría Escrivá:
“Make few resolutions. Make them definite. And fulfill them with the help of God.”
